These Žemaitian pancakes are the tastiest for our family, and they are also very easy to make.
To make 8 medium-sized Žemaitsi pancakes, you will need:
12 medium-sized potatoes
2 eggs
3 tablespoons of flour
3 tablespoons of starch
A pinch of salt
For the filling:
300 gr. minced meat
1 onion
20 g. butter
Favorite spices for meat
You will need additional oil for frying
We are preparing the dough for Žemaitian pancakes:
We boil the potatoes with the peel in salted water. When they have cooled down, we peel them, grind them or grind them in a blender, put them in a bowl, beat eggs, add flour, starch and salt and knead them well.
We are preparing the filling for Žemaiči pancakes:
Melt butter in a pan, add chopped onion, fry for 1-2 minutes, add minced meat, sprinkle with your favorite spices or just salt and pepper. Cover with a lid and simmer for about 8-10 minutes.
We bake Žemaiči pancakes:
We take the potato dough, make a patty, add about 1 tablespoon of minced meat filling, shape it similar to zeppelins, but flatten it a little at the end. Fry in heated oil in a pan for 3-5 minutes on both sides.
We eat with our favorite sauce or just sour cream or natural flavored yogurt. Delicious!
