This time on the dinner table is a very delicious and filling fake pearl barley pilaf with pork.
To make a large pot of pilaf, which is enough for a family of four, you will need:
200 gr. pearl barley
400 gr. pork shoulder
2 heads of onion
5-6 cloves of garlic
2 medium-sized carrots
1 small can of canned tomatoes in their own juice
150-200 ml. lightly salted vegetable broth
20-30 g. butter
Handfuls of chopped onion leaves, dill
Salt to taste
Favorite spices to taste
A few peas of allspice
A few bay leaves
We produce as follows:
First, we rinse the pearl millet soaked overnight and boil it in slightly salted water according to the manufacturer's recommendations. After boiling, drain. Melt the butter in a pot with a thick bottom or in a deeper pan, add finely chopped pork shoulder, chopped garlic cloves, chopped onions, sprinkle with salt and your favorite spices and fry for about 8-10 minutes. Pour the broth and cover the pot with a lid and simmer on medium heat for about 15 minutes. We add carrots grated with a beet grater, tomatoes preserved in our juice, mix. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer for about 10 minutes. Add boiled pearl barley, chopped dill, onion leaves and mix. Place a few bay leaves on top, add a few peas of allspice and cover the pot with a lid and simmer for another 10 minutes.
